Our Team

The Central Plains Cycling Team was started two years ago by a group of riders who had been riding together for many years in Brookings.  In March of 2007 the group became an official United States Cycling Federation sanctioned team.  In this past and in previous seasons, CPC members have raced in South Dakota , Nebraska , Wyoming , Minnesota , Iowa , and Wisconsin .  Now based out of Sioux Falls, Central Plains Cycling is composed of riders from Sioux Falls, Brookings, Watertown, and Southwestern, MN.  Central Plains Cycling is dedicated to road cycling, but riders often participate in mountain bike and cyclocross events as well.  We focus on performance, team tactics, placement, and upgrades through USA Cycling while developing the talent of area riders and promoting competitive cycling throughout South Dakota .  Team racers range from amateurs to veterans, but all have the same dedication and ambition to achieve their best.   In addition to racing in 42 separate events last year, the Central Plains Cycling Team brought sanctioned USA Cycling racing back to Sioux Falls by hosting the 2008 Sioux Falls Criterium / SD State Criterium Championships.  The Criterium was a successful event that brought in 61 racers from five different states.  State Champions were crowned in 8 different divisions.  Plans are already being set forth for the 2009 edition of the race.   The 2009 race season looks to be another successful year for Central Plains Cycling.  The 2009 team hopes to build upon the multiple victories achieved while participating in 42 events throughout the 2008 season. With increasing interest from area cyclists, we have recognized the need to develop two levels of team racers. Those levels being a club team, and then an Elite Team. The club team will allow area riders to give racing a shot and develop their skill level under the guidance and support of the Elite Team.  The Elite team, composed of approximately 15 riders, will travel to area states and compete in a minimum of 6 race events throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
