2009 Downtown Sioux Falls Criterium / South Dakota Criterium State Championships – Sioux Falls, SD

Background:
Building on its success from last year, the Downtown Sioux Falls Criterium will again double as the South Dakota State Criterium Championship. The fast course will once again take place in the heart of downtown to the thrill spectators as the racers navigate the streets around the historic buildings of Downtown Sioux Falls. One additional twist for this year’s addition is running the course in the opposite direction as last year. Last year’s short steep downhill will now be a short steep uphill for the racers to concur on every lap.

• Open events include USCF Categories 1, 2, 3, 4. (Separate medals awarded for Women 4.)
• State Championship Medals Awarded to top 3 South Dakota residents in each class who hold annual USCF license.
• *Juniors with annual USCF license receive free entry.

Prize List $1525

In addition to finish place prizes, merchandise and cash prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Awards ceremony to follow each event.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS:

DAY OF REGISTRATION:

• Registration open @ 7:45am and close 30 minutes prior to each event.
• Save time by filling out a Standard Athlete's Release and bring it with you.
• Make checks payable to "CPC”.
• Entry fee includes USAC $3.00 surcharge. Additional online registration fee will be applied.
• Riders must have USCF annual license OR purchase 1-day license.
• 1-day licenses will be available for purchase at race site ($10.00).
• Juniors and Kids registrations are free.
• Riders may register for a second race for an additional $10.

GENERAL RACE RULES & INFORMATION

• All 2009 USAC rules are in effect.
• Events will be held rain or shine.
• Race number placement will be posted the day of the event.
• Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bike.
• Valid and current USAC license must be presented at rider check-in.
• Promoter reserves the right to cancel/combine events and prize lists as necessary.
• Prizes will only be awarded to top half of each category.
• Held under USAC Permit #2009-1542.
• All events will be “wheels in/wheels out.” Please make sure to identify your wheels properly. Promoter is not responsible for lost or stolen wheels.

DIRECTIONS
The race will be held in downtown Sioux Falls. If you are coming along I-29, exit at 12th Street (Exit 79) and go east for approximately 2 ½ miles (12th Street will curve into 11th Street). After Minnesota Avenue, you will proceed into the Downtown area. If you are coming from I-229, exit at 10th Street (Exit 6) and go west for approximately 1 ½ miles. After crossing the viaduct you will proceed into the downtown area. Parking will be available on-street and at other parking facilities including public parking at 9th and Phillips and 10th and Main.

COURSE DETAILS
The course consists of a completely closed 1 mile, 8 corner loop. The course starts on Main Ave and heads south before turning right up the short steep rise on 9th street. A right on Dakota Ave brings riders north and downhill until 6th street. A right onto 6th street starts the technical portion of the course as riders traverse a left on Main Ave, a right onto 5th street, a right on onto Philips Ave, another right onto 6th street and then a left back onto Main Ave to set up the sprint for the finish.
